The 1980s were a good time to be a football card collector. Unlike baseball, there was only one or two football sets from the 1980s that were useless to collect. There were some great rookies and a lot of stars were in their prime in this decade. As late as 1986, there are expensive gems to be uncovered in old football card collections. It was a close call between the Elway and the Rice. It could have gone either way. The Montana could have even snuck into the one spot if it didn't come out before the card collecting boom. One thing for certain, they are all great cards. For the hell of it... here's an Honorable Mention:
