1951 Bowman Willie Mays

This 1951 Bowman Willie Mays rookie card is the first card of The Say Hey Kid. This painted card was released a year before Mays' first Topps card and is thus his true rookie. One of the more expensive baseball cards ever produced, very few collectors have this rookie card in their collection. Only a target for the most hardcore baseball card collectors, this card regularly fetches prices in the thousands. The twenty four time All Star and twelve time Gold Glove Winner was twice named the National League MVP in his great career. Mays is a member of the 3000 hit club, the 600 home run club, and won a World Series with the New York Giants in 1954. Mays is considered by some to be the best all around player to ever set foot on a baseball field.
