1954 Topps Hank Aaron rookie card

Hank Aaron
Year:
1954
Set:
Topps

This 1954 Topps Hank Aaron rookie card features a picture of a very young Hammerin' Hank. Despite hitting only thirteen home runs in that 1954 season, Aaron went on to become one of the greatest home run hitters of all time, and this card went on to become the gem of many baseball card collections. Clearly the top rookie card in a 1954 Topps set with a number of great rookies, this card fetches a high price on the open market. Aaron was a twenty five time All Star and won the NL MVP and a World Series ring in 1957. At the time of his retirement his 755 home runs were an MLB record. Despite the prolific numbers of some players during the steroid era, many still consider Aaron to be the true Home Run King. Aaron was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.

I say Aaron is still the home run king. I also say Roger Maris is still the single season home run king. The steroid era killed baseball.
