1954 Topps Ted Williams

This 1954 Topps Ted Williams baseball card is one of the most important baseball cards of the 1950s. Because Topps, which in 1954 was in the middle of a war with Bowman for baseball card supremacy, was not able to release cards of some big stars because of contractual issues (including Mickey Mantle), they made sure to sign Williams and feature him heavily in their 1954 set. This was card number 1 from this difficult set and is therefore one of the tougher post war baseball cards produced. One of two Ted Williams cards from this set, this is the first Ted Williams card that Topps ever issued. This card would be very expensive to buy in even acceptable condition.
