1959 Topps Bob Gibson rookie card

Bob Gibson
Year:
1959
Set:
Topps

This 1959 Topps Bob Gibson rookie card includes a smiling picture of the young St. Louis Cardinals fireballer. Though it is a bit of an odd looking card with its pink border, this card can be very expensive on the open market with good condition specimens going for hundreds of dollars. It is the best rookie card of the 1959 Topps baseball set and is a great buy target for both St. Louis Cardinal collectors and 1950s baseball card collectors. Gibson would go on to become an eight time All Star and two time Cy Young Award winner. With the Cardinals, he won two World Championships and was the World Series MVP both times. In one World Series game he had seventeen strikeouts which is still a record. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981, he is generally considered to be the most fearsome pitcher of all time.
