1962 Topps Gaylord Perry rookie card

Gaylord Perry
Year:
1962
Set:
Topps

This 1962 Topps Gaylord Perry rookie card is the first card of one of the more under-the-radar pitchers of the last 50 years. Coming from the legendary 1962 Topps baseball card set, this is one of the top rookie cards from the issue. In average condition this card can be very affordable but in top condition collectors should expect to pay a serious premium. Even though it doesn't feature the best picture, any vintage baseball card collector should be happy to add this one to their collection. A five time All Star, Perry was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues as he was named the top pitcher while pitching for the Cleveland Indians of the American League in 1972 and the San Diego Padres of the National League in 1978. Ending his career with over 300 wins and 3500 strikeouts, the notorious junkball pitcher was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.
