1965 Topps Catfish Hunter rookie card

Catfish Hunter
Year:
1965
Set:
Topps

This 1965 Topps Catfish Hunter rookie card is the first card of one of the top pitchers of his era. Perhaps because there are a couple of more popular rookie cards from the 1965 Topps baseball card set, this rookie card is relatively affordable on the open market. The card says Jim Hunter but baseball fans know him as Catfish. Also featured on this rookie card is Rene Lachemann, who would go on to become a big league manager. An eight time All Star, Hunter won an impressive five World Series titles with the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees. The 1974 American League Cy Young Award Winner was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1987.
