1971 Topps Steve Garvey rookie card

Steve Garvey
Year:
1971
Set:
Topps

This 1971 Topps Steve Garvey rookie card features a classic picture of the Los Angeles Dodger. Though Garvey is famous as a former first baseman, this card labels him as a third baseman. The ten time All Star was the National League Most Valuable Player in 1974. A four time Gold Glover, Garvey won a World Series Championship with the Dodgers in 1981. Despite all of these accomplishments, Garvey will likely never be a Hall of Famer because his career stats are not that impressive. Although the 1971 Topps baseball card set is one of the tougher sets ever because of the tough to keep mint black borders and spotty centering, it does not feature an indisputably iconic rookie card. This Steve Garvey rookie card is probably the best rookie card of the set. It can be fairly expensive on the open market. It is generally only a buy target for hardcore Los Angeles Dodgers collectors and those collectors who are trying to put together a 1971 Topps baseball card set. Simply put, this card would look great in any collection despite not featuring a Hall of Famer.
