1982 Topps Cal Ripken Jr. rookie card

Cal Ripken Jr.
Year:
1982
Set:
Topps

When he broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive games played streak, this 1982 Topps Cal Ripken Jr. rookie card became one of the most popular of it's time. Issued the last year of the 1980s that Topps featured multiple rookies on one card, this card is Ripken's best true rookie card although the 1982 Topps Traded Cal Ripken Jr. baseball card is arguably more sought after. This card is undoubtedly the gem of the 1982 Topps set and Ripken regular issue cards would be amongst the top cards in each set for the years following the release of this set. The card lists him as a third baseman but Ripken is more famous for the years he played shortstop. Ripken is currently a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and the most famous Baltimore Oriole of all time. Who are the other guys? I have no idea.

Well not sure about Jeff Schneider but Bobby Bonner was going to be the orioles shortstop of the future but he became a missionary to Zambia, Africa. A great guy who gave of the glory of baseball for the glory of the Lord.

Too bad Bobby Bonner became a Jesus missionary because the Orioles were never able to solve their shortstop problems after he left.
