1983 Topps Traded Darryl Strawberry

This 1983 Topps Traded Darryl Strawberry extended rookie card complements the three big rookies from the 1983 Topps base set (Boggs, Gwynn, and Sandberg). Though it is still affordable, this card is much more expensive than Strawberry's 1984 Topps regular issue rookie card. If Strawberry of the field issues never affected his playing career, this card would be mentioned in the same breath as the rookie cards of players such as Cal Ripken Jr. and Ricky Henderson. Strawberry would go on to become an eight time All Star and four time World Series Champion in his controversial career most famously as a member of the New York Mets and New York Yankees. His smooth swing from the left side of the plate is one of the most memorable images of 1980s baseball.
