1986 Topps Steve Young

This 1986 Topps Steve Young rookie card is the first NFL card of the great quarterback. Although this rookie card features Young in a Tampa Bay Bucs uniform, he is mostly remembered as the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers after Joe Montana. Because it took so long for Young to become a star in the league (he became a full time starter in 1993 at age 31) and because the 1986 Topps football set contains a lot of great rookie cards, this card was overlooked by even hardcore football card collectors for years after its release. It eventually was recognized as one of the best cards of the set and this rookie card is now fairly expensive of the open market. Any collector who was smart enough to see Young's potential during those early years really cashed in when Young became one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Young was a seven time Pro Bowler and two time league MVP. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
