1987 Topps Barry Bonds rookie card

Barry Bonds

1987
Set:
Topps

This 1987 Topps Barry Bonds rookie card is a very common rookie card from the steroids king. Every kid who collected baseball cards in 1987 had at least 20 of these rookie cards and they are worth very little today. Even though Topps released an extended rookie of Bonds in their 1986 Topps Traded set, this card would be his regular issue Topps rookie card. Serious Bonds collectors would be better off targetting the Topps Tiffany version of this card which will be many times more expensive than the card pictured. The famous/infamous 1987 Topps baseball set featured a wood patterned border that collectors either love or hate. One thing nobody can deny is that this card does have a great picture of the notorious home run king in his Pittsburgh Pirates uniform.

Look at how skinny Bonds was. I cant believe baseball ignored steroids for all those years. By the time he retired his head weighed as much as he did when this picture was taken.
