1988-89 Topps Brendan Shanahan rookie card

Brendan Shanahan
Year:
1988-89
Set:
Topps

This 1988-89 Topps Brendan Shanahan rookie card features the young winger in a New Jersey Devils jersey. Though it was overshadowed by the Brett Hull rookie card from the same set for years, today it is at least on par with any rookie from the 1988-89 Topps hockey card set. It is a great mark for 1980s hockey card collectors and it is a must for any Brendan Shanahan collector. Though in gem mint condition this rookie card can be a little expensive, it can be affordable if you are willing to settle for an ungraded specimen. Most famous as a member of the St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings, Shanahan has amassed over 600 career goals and is sure to be a Hall of Famer some day. An intersting note in his career is the fact that Hall of Famer Scott Stevens was sent as compensation when the Blues signed Shanahan away from the Devils.
