Topps This 1988-89 Topps Brett Hull rookie card was for a short time not only the hottest hockey card on the market, but some might argue it was once the most sought after sports card overall especially during Hull's 86 goal 1990-91 season. Today, this rookie card (and the 1988-89 O-Pee-Chee Brett Hull rookie card) is a lot more affordable than it once was, but it is still one of the best hockey cards of the late 1980s. After five straight 50 goal seasons, Hull's career slowed a bit and this card dropped in value. Nevertheless, Hull had over 700 career goals and won a Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars on an illegal goal in 1999 against the Buffalo Sabres.

I looked on Hockey DB and it says Brett Hull was drafted into the NHL by Calgary Flames in 1984 and played for 3 seasons with the Flames before being traded in 87-88 to St. Louis. I would like too know why they consider the 1988/89 season his rookie season in the NHL. Thank you for answering my question on this card.
After being drafted by Calgary he played 2 years of college hockey.
In the 1980s, Topps and OPC would generally not issue a card of the player until the year after their rookie season. He played 5 games in 1985-86 for the Flames. In 1987-88 he played 65 NHL games for the Flames and Blues and that season qualified as his official rookie season. As a result, Topps and OPC included him in their sets before the 1988-89 season.
I have a 1984-85 U. of Minnesota Duluth Hockey card set that I can't find any information about at all. I'm simply trying to find some information on their value. So far I've looked on E-bay and every other site I can find and can't find anything at all. Please contact me with any reference for info regarding this set if you know of any. I have found that there were approximately only 250 sets made. I have a complete set still in the original box in mint to gem-mint condition. Thank you in advance.
Value wise I think you may be a bit disappointed. Looks like they were reprinted in the early 1990s. Check out this description: http://www.puckjunk.com/article.php?artid=20090016
