1988 Fleer Update John Smoltz

This 1988 Fleer Update John Smoltz rookie card is the first card of the former big league hurler. Though it did not come from the nicest set, this card is a great target for 1980s baseball card collectors. Featuring an action shot of a young Smoltz, this card was a bit of a bonus to collectors as it took Smoltz a few years to establish himself as a star in the league. He was an eight time All Star and the 1996 National League Cy Young Award winner. Smoltz was a member of the 1995 World Champion Atlanta Braves. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2000, Smoltz moved to the bullpen and became as dominant a closer as he was a starter. He will definitely garner a great deal of Hall of Fame consideration when he is eligible.
