1989 Bowman Ken Griffey Jr.

This 1989 Bowman Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card is another first year card of the Seattle Mariners superstar and hobby legend. Marking the first year back for Bowman (as Topps resurrected the brand that year), they decided to go with a retro theme with classic sized cards and just a facsimile autograph of the player on the front. This set did not go over too well but this Griffey Jr. rookie card will continue to sell for years as it is very affordable on the open market. It took Topps a few years after the debacle that was the 1989 Bowman baseball card set to really get the brand respected again. Even still, this set featured a lot of rookie cards which would become a trend with the Bowman sets for years to follow.
