1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card

Ken Griffey Jr.
Year:
1989
Set:
Upper Deck

Card No. 1 from the first set the company ever made, this 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card was easily the hottest card of its time. Featuring a memorable picture of one of the bigger rookie stars of all time on a short printed card, this story of this card is too good to be true for card collectors. One of the most iconic cards of all time, some will argue that this card singlehandedly caused the baseball card boom on the late 1980s/ early 1990s that initially energized and ultimately damaged the hobby. To this day, some hardcore card collectors look upon this card negatively for the odd impact it had on card collecting while less enthusiastic collectors look upon this card with reverence. Even as the Seattle Mariner outfielder's career slows to a crawl, this card will surely remain popular with collectors as grown men try to piece together the collection they never were able to have as children. Few will forget the impact Griffey has had on baseball and few will forget the impact that this card had on card collecting.

This is the greatest card of all time. Better than the Mattingly or the Mantle.

How much is this worth ?

The worth of this rookie card can really vary based on condition. I have seen it anywhere from 10-250 bucks. In my opinion, its worth it at any price.
