1992-93 Topps Archives Michael Jordan

This Michael Jordan card from the 1992-93 Topps Archives basketball card set has a bit of a cult following. The idea is that since Topps didn't produce a basketball card set for the ten years before 1992, they would release a set to make up for it. Since Jordan's rookie year was 1984 they produced a card with the look of the 1984 Topps baseball card set for him and they followed the same pattern for all other major rookies from the 10 year gap. A great idea, sure, but a novelty card nonetheless. This is sometimes marketted on resale sites as the 1984 Topps Michael Jordan rookie card. Make no mistake...it is not his rookie card, so don't spend too much for it. Many collectors have been burned thinking this card is special in some way because it features a picture of a young Jordan. Though somewhat of a cool looking card (if you're a basketball fan and a 1980s baseball card collector), it could be had for around a dollar or so.
