Is Pat LaFontaine really that popular?

The 1984-85 Topps Pat LaFontaine Rookie Card is consistently one of the most viewed cards on this site. In a site populated by Micky Mantle, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, and Joe Montana cards, I have to wonder how this is possible.
We have seen a lot of traffic come from the Buffalo Sabres message board where this card was apparently a topic of conversation. We also see a lot of traffic coming from Google...I guess people are really interested in this guy.
This just happens to be one of my favorite cards. I remember opening a single pack as a kid and getting this card, a Dave Andreychuk rookie, and a Tom Barrasso rookie. In retrospect, this would seem to be a Sabres' fan's dream. Of course at the time I was just as excited about the Bernie Nicholls card that was also in the pack.
