Every year in every major sport, there are potentially new players inducted into their sport's respective Hall of Fame. This induction symbolizes that the player is considered one of the greats of their sport. More importantly, as the name implies, this shows that the player achieved a level of fame that is worthy of their being immortalized in the eyes of fans.

The popularity of the player is one of the driving factors in sports card value. When a player is inducted into the Hall of Fame, it proves that the player achieved one of the highest levels of popularity. It also assures that their cards will maintain their popularity with collectors. Rookie card of Hall of Famers are always sought after by collectors.

This year Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Luc Robitallie, and Brian Leetch were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as one of the greatest player induction classes of all time. Here are their rookie cards:
